We would like to invite seniors in the community to come and participate in the following programs at Melville Heights!

Gentle Chair Yoga Class with Abra Morrison

Cost: $10/person for each class*
When: January 6 – April 27 | Every Monday (excluding holidays) | 3:00pm – 4:00 pm
Where: Melville Heights (Exercise Room), 24 Ramsgate Lane, Halifax, NS

Led by Abra Morrison, chair yoga is suitable for all experience levels and is a great way to stretch your muscles, improve your circulation, and reduce stress!

Relax & Renew with Abra Morrison

Cost: $5/person for each class*
When: February 4 - April 28 | Every Tuesday (excluding holidays) | 3:00pm – 3:30 pm

Led by Abra Morrison, this meditation class is suitable for all experience levels and can help to reduce stress, increase calmness and clarity, and promote happiness.

Health and Wellness Clinic with Hearing Institute Atlantic

When: Thursday March 12, 2020 | 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Where: Melville Heights (Ballroom), 24 Ramsgate Lane, Halifax, NS

In partnership with Hearing Institute Atlantic, we will be offering a health and wellness clinic that will be open to the community. Hearing Institute Atlantic will be offering hearing aid checks for minor repairs and ear checks for wax build up, as well as helpful information for hearing devices and hearing health care.

Our nurses will also provide blood pressure & weighing services for those who are interested.

St. Patrick's Day Seniors' Social

Cost: FREE
When: Tuesday March 17, 2020 | 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Join us for live music, light refreshments, and some St. Patrick’s Day themed games!

Come Grow With Us: A Family Guide to Growing Vegetables

Marjorie Willison joins us for a presentation and discussion on her book, Come Grow With Us: A Family Guide to Growing Vegetables. The book was written for the Urban Farm Museum Society of Spryfield (UFMSS) and is used for teaching gardening.

About Marjorie

Through Aging Well With Marjorie, Marjorie is transitioning from gardening guru to fighting ageist attitudes, debunking myths, and celebrating the many contributions of older adults to our communities, our society, and our economy.

Her background in occupational therapy and public health forms a strong foundation to inform and encourage a better quality of life regardless of age, income, or ability.

Aging Well With Marjorie translates the latest aging-related research and insights into practical information for the 55+ crowd – to have a good quality of life filled with purpose and meaning, no matter what life brings throughout the aging process.
